KingBathmat
(aka John Bassett) is a multi-instrumentalist who hails from
Walthamstow, London. He was raised by an ex convent nun and
a meter reader, who fed him and looked after him until the
age of 16, where he left school with very little else except
a degree in truancy.
At an early age, KingBathmat’s heart was demolished
and crushed by a german girl which led him to embark on a
mission to throw himself into music.
After being in and out of many different bands......he decided
to become a solo artist and write, record and produce all
his own music.

2003
saw the independent release of debut cd “Son of a Nun”
which was given rave reviews for its songwriting and unique
blending of psychedelic pop styles, folk and heavy rock influences.
2004 saw the release of the CD “Crowning Glory”,
10 songs that showed off KingBathmats songwriting skills to
the fore, a more subdued affair than "Son of a Nun",
critics where bowled over by the complex arrangements and
haunting melodic content, this along with a breathtakingly
original, psychedelic style of production attracted a lot
more fans, and sold a lot more records.

"KingBathmat’s
music manages to invoke musical influences from every decade
since the Sixties, one minute clutching hands round the table
and summoning the spirit of Syd Barrett, the next possessed
by Edwyn Collins, KingBathmat is a one man army of musical
inspiration whose creativity crosses all genres making him
equal parts Badly Drawn Boy and Lemmy, sometimes in the same
song." - drowned in sound

Now
May 2005 see's the much anticipated follow up to "Crowning
Glory" with "Fantastic Freak Show Carnival",
this new album has all the traits of a KingBathmat album,
but this time the production is first class, a bigger Psychedelic
sound, and a more experimental, heavier, raw feel. This
is a trip you will need to embark on.
